I agree with this assessment, Umair.
For what it’s worth, I begin to fume when I read or hear someone begin a statement with, “In these uncertain times…” Uncertain times? Really? I’m not uncertain about this time at all.
I’m certain this strain of the Coronavirus, COVID-19, is deadly and the second wave will be worse than what we are experiencing now.
I’m certain that the death toll to date will seem minuscule compared to what it will be in the coming days, weeks, and months.
I’m certain medical science will find a way to kill it.
I’m also certain that before science finds a cure that quackery will convince the perpetually gullible, ignorant, and stupid of “miracle cures” while laughing all the way to their banks (banks that are receiving yet another boondoggle from the American taxpayer while those in desperate need of financial assistance are deliberately bypassed).
I’m certain that Trump and every member of that unholy administration as well as the entirety of the GOP — along with the idiocy of the governors of the states proclaiming they will end their stay-at-home orders — are all guilty of malfeasance in the least.
I am certain that the totality of those same elected servants and their inept responses and actions to protect citizens against this epidemic are guilty of outright murder of the innocent.
I am certain we as a nation will change in ways we cannot yet imagine.
I am certain that the phrase, “return to normal” is a catch-all for people unwilling to face reality. I am certain that phrase is used by those in the media who need to fill air time by stating this lie into a camera. I am certain this phrase is uttered by politicians in feeble attempts to quell our fears instead of telling us the truth — the absolute truth which we need to hear in order to survive.
I am certain that too many politicians could no more agree on truth than I could give birth.
I am certain the way in which we educate our youth will change.
I’m certain that I agree with everyone who states that the people on the front lines to keep us safe and supplied are true heroes who do, in fact, put themselves in harms way.
I am certain commerce will drastically change.
I am also certain of this: we will, eventually and by a resounding majority, face these challenges and find new ways of conducting the business of being human, of being responsible citizens of this planet.
There is no alternative.
